We have a SQL server database 2000, and in terms of shrinking the database file options in 2000. When I run the task\shrink database it wont' do anything. However, in the Recovery option if I switch it to simple and then shrink the database it will shrink. Why won't it allow me to do so in Full mode. Also, from what I was reading, isn't it better to run the DBCC Shrinkfile command vs doing with the right clicking on the database, and select the Shrink database menu option. Please advise.
